As Albi suddenly appeared, the students wore puzzled expressions, while Torua descended from the magic carpet and greeted politely.

“Hello, Professor Albi.”

“What are you doing?”

“I was just enjoying myself with some adorable underclassmen, making this senior in the sky happy.”

‘You’re making us run errands for money!’

The first-years thought silently. Of course, no one dared to voice it aloud.

Albi surveyed the chaotic practice hall with an expressionless face and waved his hand once.

The magic emanating from his fingertips instantly restored the practice hall, disrupted by Torua’s commands, to its original state.

The students stared in awe.

‘Time-Reversal Magic!’

A high-level spell that reverses an object’s time, incorporating the concept of temporal violation. And he used it without even chanting.

“Everyone, assemble.”

At Albi’s command, the first-years quickly gathered. Torua remained seated under the parasol that Carl had handed her. Since she was only here to assist with the class, she didn’t feel the need to join the assembly.

“I'm Albi Zeron.” Albi spoke briefly.

The students tensed at the short introduction.

‘Why is he here? Did he just stop by on his way somewhere?’

‘Or did he come to test a new spell here? That would be incredibly lucky.’

Normally, when a professor appeared in a classroom, students might anticipate a lecture—but no first-year expected Albi to teach. That was because Albi was known as a professor who never gave lessons.

Becoming a professor was merely a privilege granted by Lumene. Albi rarely stayed at the school, as he was usually off defeating Tartaros. Even though he had been a Lumene professor for a long time, he had never given a lecture.

The students’ eyes sparkled at the prospect of witnessing the magic of a hero as renowned as Albi.

“From today, at Professor Len’s request, I’ll be assisting with your class.”

“……?”

The students couldn’t comprehend Albi’s unexpected words.

At that moment, Torua, still under the parasol, ran over.

“Wait, Professor Albi is going to teach a lecture?”

“Is there a problem, Torua Yan?”

“No problem, but you refused multiple special lecture requests from the underclassmen, including me!”

Albi was a magician who wielded fairy magic in a human body—a rarity among humans.

Naturally, any magic student wanted to attend his lecture. Torua had been petitioning for Albi’s lectures since her first year.

Even for a special lecture, Albi had refused, and Torua had been repeatedly kicked out of the magic department office for pestering him.

After becoming vice-student council president, she even tried to leverage her authority, only to be disciplined. And yet, Albi was now giving the lecture to first-years.

“I’ve been busy.”

“…….”

That single, brief reply made Torua clench her fists.

At that moment, Professor Len and Deputy Professor Anna entered the practice hall.

“Sunbae, you’re here.”

Len greeted Albi respectfully, and the students realized Albi’s true standing. Despite his youth, Len was not only influential in Lumene’s magic department but also wielded tremendous influence throughout the magical world.

Len focused only on magical research, so he wasn’t listed on the Hero Record, yet his skill was on par with frontline battle mages.

The only professors Len treated with such deference were Albi, Sedgen of Class 1, and Harrid of Class 5.

“Everyone, pay attention! This is Professor Albi, specially invited for your first-year class! Let’s give him a round of applause!”

The first-years clapped enthusiastically at Len’s announcement.

“Torua, why are you sitting among the first-years clapping? Come forward. You’re here as an assistant for this class.”

“Waaah! I’m a first-year! I want to attend Professor Albi’s special lecture!”

“Deputy Professor Anna, take her forward immediately.”

Len spoke with authority, and Anna approached Torua as if it were routine.

“Torua, come on now.”

“No! I want to stay! I want to hear Professor Albi’s lecture!”

Despite struggling, Torua was eventually dragged forward by Anna.

Ignoring Torua’s sulky expression, Len spoke:

“The reason I specially invited Professor Albi today is for magical combat.”

The students murmured among themselves.

“The event for the inter-departmental tournament is a battle royale—basically, survival. And mages are arguably the most disadvantaged class in such scenarios.”

The magic students nodded. Indeed, outside of battle mages like Chelsea, mages were at a disadvantage in one-on-one combat against other classes.

“Professor Albi has faced countless battlefronts alone. As far as I know, there is no one more skilled in magical combat. His advice will be invaluable as you prepare for the inter-departmental tournament.”

The students clapped in admiration at Len’s words.

“Regardless, attending Professor Albi’s lecture is a rare opportunity.”

Carl smiled mischievously, and Chloe nodded.

“Yeah. I’m looking forward to it.”

“Torua, being an active dungeon raider on the frontlines, will also spare no advice for you.”

The first-years’ eyes shone. From today, they were about to experience a truly luxurious practice.

As Len stepped back, Albi moved forward.

“What do you think is the most important aspect in magical combat?”

The students eagerly raised their hands, hoping to make a strong impression on the heroic and renowned Albi Zeron.

“You there, answer.”

“Emio Luchan from Class 2!”

Emio, who had ranked third in the midterm exams in magic, stood.

“The most important thing for a magician is mana!”

“Wrong. Next. You there.”

“Eh?”

As Emio faltered, Chelsea spoke:

“Casting speed!”

“Wrong. Next.”

Students offered their own ideas, but Albi seemed to reject them all. Eventually, everyone hesitated to raise their hands.

Torua shot her hand up.

“Me!”

“Put it down!”

Of course, Professor Len forced it down.

Finally, Leo raised his hand.

“Answer, Leo Plov.”

“Mobility.”

“That’s correct.”

“Tch. I raised my hand first.”

“Don’t compete with the first-years! You’re teaching today!”

Torua muttered, and Len buried his face in his hands. Even for a young, charismatic teacher like Len, Torua was troublesome.

“Professor, I don’t understand! Mobility surely is important, but I don't think it is the most critical factor in magical combat! And mobility issues in magic have already been overcome!”

‘Do you think I'll be outdone by a student who not even in Magic Department?!’

Emio snapped.

“Mobility issue overcome? Are you talking about Wing Magic?”

“That’s correct!”

Wing Magic—a levitation spell invented ten years ago.

It was a spell that easier to learn and faster than the old Fly spell, it allowed objects to gain flight capabilities.

While Fly also enabled objects to fly, Wing Magic was more efficient, overcoming a magician’s relative weakness in mobility, and thus hailed as a groundbreaking spell.

Albi nodded at Emio.

“What is your name?”

“Emio Luce.”

“Emio Luce, step forward.”

Emio walked up, confused.

“Any of you without a dedicated Wing Magic device?”

The students were stunned.

Wing Magic was considered essential for modern magicians, and a device was necessary for aerial movement. It wasn’t a mandatory item, but still indispensable.

As students of Magic Department, it made no sense not to have it.

However, contrary to students' expectations, two students raised their hands—Leo and Chloe.

Chloe seemed embarrassed, her head bowed slightly, while Leo stood tall and confident.

“Leo Plov, come forward.”

Emio glared at Leo.

‘Did I mess up my school life?’

Leo saw it and snickered inwardly.

“You two will now begin an aerial combat exercise.”

Albi pointed to the top of the Hero’s Tower in the distance.

“The one who marks the target first and returns wins. Leo Plov, you will use this.”

Albi produced a broom from his extra-dimensional space.

“Why a broom, of all things?”

“It’s my usual tool.”

Leo raised an eyebrow, unimpressed, but Albi answered nonchalantly.

The students looked envious.

Though it appeared to be a mundane broom, it was clearly a powerful magical tool in Albi’s hands.

The students who had been looking at Leo enviously now looked puzzled.

‘But why on earth is it a match, when you’re emphasising the importance of aerial manoeuvrability?’

However, the expressions of several students who saw the broom changed abruptly.

“That’s ridiculous. Completely unfair, isn't it?”

“Why?”

“It’s not a specialized flying device! It’s just a cleaning broom!”

“What?”

“This is going to be fun.”

Torua grinned, while Anna sighed.

“Fun, yes. But can it really be competitive?”

Leo and Emio took their positions at the starting line. Anna raised her hand.

“Are both of you ready?”

They nodded, and Anna lowered her hand.

“Go!”

“Become my limbs, Wing!”

Emio finished his incantation instantly, leapt onto his board-like device, and shot forward.

‘I don’t know what tool Professor Albi gave Leo, but mine is top-tier! Plus, I practice Wing Magic every day!’

Emio smirked.

‘Leo hasn’t even practiced once! This victory is mine!’

As he surged ahead, wind whipping past him, Emio was confident of his win.

Suddenly—

“……!”

Something rapidly caught up beside him.

“What the—?”

It was Leo.

“Sorry, I’m going first!”

“You bastard! Should I just let you go?!”

Emio drew his staff, sparks flying from his eyes.

Crackle!

“Lightning Bolt!”

Leo twisted sharply to avoid the spell flying from behind him.

“What? Why attack?”

“This isn’t a race; it’s aerial combat! You can attack your opponent!”

Emio, passing Leo, sneered.

Leo smirked.

“Oh? You’ll regret that, you know?”
