Chapter 34
Editor : Amethyst00
“Whatttttt? You saw the Wise Queen!”
“Unbelievable! That's huge news! Then that must be Lady Lysinas’s Hero Record?”
Because of the Hero Studies incident, the entire first-year grade was in an uproar.
All of the academy’s professors were summoned, and classes were replaced with self-study.
That was how serious the incident was.
The records of the great heroes, the first heroes recorded in the Hero Record, do not remain in great number.
In such circumstances, a new page fragment of the Hero Record in which Lysinas appeared was discovered.
It was no wonder that Lumene was thrown into chaos.
While the other students were reacting noisily, Leo was sunk in deep thought.
‘Why is it only my Hero Record that keeps turning out such a mess?’
The reason a Hero’s World had been generated was probably because Leo—who could be called the true master of the world—had touched the Hero Record.
But it was very different from the entrance exam.
‘When you enter a Hero’s World, a message always pops up telling the challenger whose world it is. But this time…’
[Hero Record Open. ■■’s World. Chapter: ■■-■■■]
There was no way to know whose world it was.
‘Even when Lysinas called my name, I couldn’t hear it.’
As if someone had deliberately erased Kyle’s name.
‘There must be a definite reason my Hero Record didn’t remain.’
Leo narrowed his eyes.
‘The Hero Record was originally one, wasn’t it?’
Now split into five, the Hero Record was once a single complete record.
But long ago, due to some incident, it was divided into five.
In that process, many pages were lost and scattered all across the world.
‘What if someone deliberately destroyed the Hero Record?’
The Hero Record is an item that passes down a hero’s power.
Literally, the power to foster heroes.
‘If there was someone who didn’t want new heroes to be born…’
At that thought, Leo felt a chill run down his spine.
‘Erebos.’
“Leo oppa?”
At Chelsea’s call, Leo snapped back to himself.
“Why do you look so scary?”
“It’s nothing.”
‘I need to investigate why the Hero Record was divided in the first place.’

A month passed after the Hero Studies incident.
At first, the excitement gradually calmed down.
The Hero Record related to Lysinas was certainly a huge issue.
But there was nothing first-years could do about it.
Many students asked the professors questions about Lysinas, but they received no answers.
On top of that, with midterms approaching, the Hero Studies incident naturally faded from the first-years’ attention.
Professor Len’s Magic Theory class.
“As you all know, midterms are not far off.”
The students’ faces tensed.
This was the first time Professor Len mentioned midterms.
They could intuitively tell.
‘He’s about to bring up the practical exam.’
Lumene’s exams consisted of written and practical tests.
In particular, the major subjects had a heavy emphasis on practical scores.
Naturally, the students were waiting for word about the practical exam.
Professor Len picked up a piece of chalk and stood before the board.
The screech of chalk filled the lecture hall.
The students began murmuring as he wrote.
“Uniques. In other words, Unique Magic. This will be your practical exam assignment for the midterm.”
Len tossed the chalk into the chalk tray and strode to the center of the stage.
“Unique magic expresses a mage’s individuality clearly. In this age, when formulaic incantations have become the mainstream, mages tend not to pursue originals. They’re inefficient.”
He looked over the students and smirked.
“But I believe unique magic is essential for a mage. A spell of your own design, free of standardized formulas, is hard to break. It can become a trump card that protects you in a crisis.”
At those words, the students’ eyes lit up.
A trump card.
That single phrase was enough to stir the hearts of young mages.
“Then, shall we talk about historically famous unique magics? Who can tell me one?”
Hands went up.
“Chelsea.”
“Ruberth Lewellin’s magic.”
“Correct. Indeed, the founder of the Lewellin family possessed powerful unique magic.”
Chelsea sat down, beaming.
That opened the floodgates, and students began volunteering answers one after another.
Normally, Len would only take a few responses and move on, but today he listened to an unusually large number.
As if he was waiting for a particular answer.
The students noticed and participated even more eagerly.
Then Leo raised his hand.
“Leo! Go ahead!”
Len’s tone rose slightly.
He paid close attention to Leo, but unlike Len’s interest, Leo rarely answered his questions.
Leo stood and said:
“Star Sorcery.”
The students frowned in puzzlement.
Star Sorcery.
That referred to the elves’ independent magical system.
Certainly powerful.
But every elf could use it.
That hardly qualified as unique magic.
But at Leo’s words, Chloe, Abad, and Chelsea froze.
Len blew air forcefully from his nose.
“Correct! That’s exactly the answer I wanted!”
He clapped fervently and explained.
“Star Sorcery, which has now become the standardized system every elf mage learns! But that was only a modified form so that any elf could use it!”
Ren’s voice grew louder.
“You all know well how powerful Star Sorcery is!”
Star Sorcery.
It was a racial magic crafted to suit the elves’ mana traits.
That was why other races had such a hard time using it.
A matter of talent and instinct.
When Leo used elven magic, it had turned the entire Magic Department upside down.
“But!”
Len clenched his fist and spoke seriously.
“The Star Sorcery used by elves today is only a minor copy of the unique magic of the Poet of the Star, Luna. The true Star Sorcery was wielded by only one person in history!”
‘Two, actually.’
Leo smirked faintly, propping his chin.
“That one person was none other than Lady Luna, the Poet of the Star.”
The magic students clenched their fists.
“Now, do you understand why you must pursue unique magic?”
To mages who dreamed of heroism, Luna was an object of reverence.
The fact that Luna’s magic was rooted in originality was enough to convince them of its necessity.
Ding-dong, ding-dong—
The bell rang to signal the end of class.
“That’s all for today.”
The students packed up and stood, busily debating unique magic with their friends.
“Originals, huh. What a pain.”
Carl scratched his head.
Original magic was a realm of creation.
Inventing new spells was no easy task.
“Leo, you’ve got three different majors with practical exams, right? You’re gonna have a tough time.”
Carl gave him a pitying look.
Leo smiled.
“I’ll just have to work hard.”
‘I’ve got plenty of unique magic from my past life.’
Leo had created many unique spells in his previous life.
This exam was practically a blessing for him.
As Leo and Carl left the lecture hall together—
“Leo.”
A voice called from behind.
Leo turned to see Chloe standing there, holding a black grimoire against her chest.
Normally, Leo, Carl, and Chloe attended magic classes together.
But starting a month ago, Chloe had been sitting apart from them.
It wasn’t because of a fight or bad blood.
They still chatted and hung out after class.
But during class, she sat separately.
‘She said she felt strong rivalry toward me, didn’t she?’
“Wanna eat lunch together?”
Leo asked with a smile, but Chloe took a deep breath and stepped closer.
Leo’s gaze was drawn to the black grimoire she was holding.
‘Not a textbook. Must be a personal grimoire.’
“Leo. In this practical exam, I’m going to beat you.”
Chloe declared with force.
Carl was taken aback.
“Whoa, whoa! What’s with this winning and losing between friends? And Leo better than you? You’re the honor student—your magical skill is…”
“No.”
Chloe clutched her grimoire tight.
“Leo’s mastery of magical formulas is superior to mine. That’s undeniable.”
Her eyes wavered faintly as she went on.
“When it comes to formulas, I must always be the best. So I can’t afford to lose.”
She clenched her teeth and stared directly at Leo.
“That’s why I’ll beat you this time. Promise me. Promise you’ll give it your all as a mage. I won’t accept you neglecting magic because of your other majors.”
“Alright. I promise.”
“Leo!”
“Don’t worry, Carl. It’s not a fight.”
Leo’s expression turned serious.
“She spoke to me this earnestly—dodging her would be ruder.”
“Thanks, Leo. Then I’ll go on ahead.”
Chloe smiled and walked away.
Carl smacked his lips as he watched.
“Ah, youth. Pure youth.”

As midterms approached, the details of the first-year practical exams were revealed one by one.
Knight Studies was a sparring test.
Duels were conducted within the department during exam week.
Naturally, ranking was based on accumulated victories.
Thus, it was the subject with the earliest practical exam.
On the actual day of the midterms, the top eight would be chosen for a tournament.
Summoning Studies had two practical tests.
One was a flying beast race.
The other tested how freely one could command an elemental.
Magic Studies was the development of unique magic, with outside judges invited to a presentation.
Cramming was useless.
It was a test of how diligently one had worked all along.
And as for the long-awaited Combat Studies and Hero Studies exams, they were joint.
“I knew it.”
Carl looked unsurprised.
“The practical test for Combat and Hero Studies is conquering a Hero’s World.”
He pointed to the notice board at the front of the class.
“On exam day, teams will be randomly assigned to conquer a Hero’s World. What a nightmare!”
Conquering a Hero’s World required strong teamwork.
If you knew your team in advance, you could plan accordingly and increase efficiency.
But if you didn’t, you had to prepare for every possible scenario.
It was a test that evaluated cadets’ comprehensive ability.
“No free riding this time~”
“Hey! Who said anything about free riding!”
“Yeah, Carl can’t even manage to free ride—he’d just be dead weight!”
“Chelsea, you—!”
Ohohoho! Kya-ha-ha!
Laughing as they ran off, Eliana and Chelsea left Carl clutching his head in agony.
“Carl, maybe this test is actually good for you?”
“What?”
“You’re training to be a supporter, right?”
Carl’s eyes lit up.
“No matter what team you end up on, your role is guaranteed.”
“Right! If I prepare thoroughly, I can support any team!”
The difference a supporter made in battle was enormous.
Rather than clumsily imitating a mage, Carl would create more synergy by focusing on support.
“Thanks, Leo! You showed me the way!”
“I don't particularly want Carl’s support, though.”
“Yeah, I’m a little worried too.”
“Tade! Nella! You guys too?!”
Crushed by his friends’ distrust, Carl clutched his head and wailed.
