Chapter 179
Editor : Amethyst00
Torua and Jamua’s match was being watched from the air by Sedgen, who was moving his pen.
‘Indeed, those two are on a different level.’
Scritch—scritch—
‘This looks like Torua is planning to get serious. I’m curious to see how the 1st-years will respond.’
Whether in the distant past or in the present, the number of spells one could use was one of the measures that determined a mage’s strength.
Of course, even without using many different spells, one could still become a powerful mage.
There were mages who achieved great feats with only a few overwhelmingly powerful spells.
Like the 3rd-year mage, Elena Zeron.
Unlike Elena, Torua was a mage who skillfully handled countless spell formulas.
‘What’s impressive is those formulas themselves.’
Sedgen curled the corner of his lips.
‘They’re not standardized spells, but all self-created unique spells.’
Torua’s strength lay in magical research.
And that research wasn’t limited to one category of magic, as long as it fell under the umbrella of Magical Power.
That’s why the diversity of her unique spells was beyond imagination.
‘Now then, how will you respond to this, hmm? From your standpoint, all of Torua’s spells are unknown territory.’
Flash—!
Watching the magic that filled the air, Chelsea let out a cry of astonishment.
“What, they’re all unique spells?!”
“That’s just nonsense, isn’t it?”
Even the knight-department student who was teamed with them, someone ignorant of magic knew that creating that many unique spells was beyond common sense.
“It’s nonsense, sure. But this is Lumene, isn’t it?”
Chloe gripped her staff.
“It’s a place where common sense can break at any time.”
Whoooo—
Blue mana overflowed from Chloe’s body.
“Ice World.”
With a low murmur, Chloe’s unique spell activated.
A field spell that exerted influence over the entire surrounding area.
Quite literally, within this subspace, Chloe was the queen.
Crackle—crackle—
“Hm?”
Seeing even the flow of mana begin to freeze, Torua murmured in admiration.
“Amazing. To elevate a spell’s power to this level.”
She clapped her hands and smiled.
“You must have an excellent goal in mind, huh?”
Torua glanced at Leo.
At that moment, Abad completed his unique spell as well.
“Tempest.”
Crackkkkkkkle—!
In the middle of the frozen world, a massive storm surged.
Seeing that, Torua narrowed her eyes.
‘Wind isn’t a bad match with ice.’
Abad’s Tempest, filled with scattered shards of ice, released a tremendous chill.
On top of that, Chelsea was supporting Abad’s spell with a power amplification chant.
It was, in every sense, an ideal combination of mages.
Crackle—crack—
When Torua tried to dodge the spell, an ice wall formed in midair.
Meanwhile, the remaining students quickly aimed for the empty goal.
“Oh no, that won’t do.”
Torua lightly waved her hand.
Crashkk—!
“Ugh?”
“This time it’s golems?”
“Hey! Break through! It can’t be as strong as the slimes just now—”
Squirm—squirm—
“Gyaaaa?! Lava golems?!”
“Run! Run!!”
Seeing the golems with molten lava flowing over their bodies, the students screamed and fled.
A lava golem—something that couldn’t be made without top-class skill in golemcraft.
‘Is there *anything that senior can’t do?’*
‘So this is the Omnipotent Wizard, Torua Yan.’
A nickname given because she was said to be close to mastery of magic.
It perfectly suited Torua, who displayed near-perfect magical ability in every field.
“Hand it over.”
“Aaah! T-the ball!”
Torua snatched the ball from the 1st-years.
Then she floated lightly in the air.
“Excellent, 1st-years! As your senior in the Magic Department, I’m very pleased!”
Torua spread her chest proudly.
“You’ll probably become the best! You’ll lead Lumene into its golden age!”
Mm—mm— Nodding in satisfaction, Torua crossed her arms.
“I wasn’t nearly this good when I was in my 1st year.”
“Ugh. Don’t lie. You’re a total monster!”
Chelsea grumbled.
Smiling at her, Torua readjusted her grip on her staff.
Whoooom—
Mana swelled from her body.
Seeing that, the 1st-years tensed up.
“To show you how important effort really is.”
Flash—!
Countless magic circles formed in the air.
Abad’s Tempest that had been targeting Torua was dispelled.
Whoosh—!
Chloe’s Ice World also vanished.
Seeing that, both of their faces stiffened.
‘So quickly?’
‘Did she push them away with raw mana?’
Their bewildered expressions hardened.
‘No!’
‘She analyzed the formulas and unraveled them!’
Unbelievable.
And awe-inspiring as a mage.
‘To be on this level…’
Abad had seen many mages in his family.
Among them were great mages worthy of the title of Archmage, and even those who had reached the rank of heroes.
Chloe was no different.
Though she wasn’t from one of the highest families of the Northern Magic Tower, she had grown up seeing incredible mages.
Many of them had shown great interest in her and guided her, seeing her exceptional talent.
Among them were mages stronger than Torua is now.
But without a doubt, there was no mage who understood “magic” itself as deeply as Torua did.
Even after she graduated from Lumene, she would only grow stronger.
‘Normally, seeing something like this would make one feel small.’
But Chloe and Abad didn’t seem that way at all.
They simply looked as though they’d found a new goal.
‘Is this all because of Leo? Then what's his reaction?’
Torua chuckled softly and turned toward Leo.
Then her eyes widened.
On the ground, Leo’s gaze as he looked up at her was peculiar.
‘Admiration… and… understanding?’
Torua’s expression subtly changed.

“Torua looks pretty worked up too.”
“I’d be happy too if the Knight Department kids did that well.”
At Ulta’s words, Rhys gave a faint smile.
“Well, I don’t think our juniors will fall behind either.”
Watching the Knight Department juniors facing Jamua, Rhys smiled.
“Still, Torua’s problem is that she can’t hold back.”
“Don’t worry about that.”
“Ulta, what exactly do you know about Leo?”
Rhys looked puzzled.
Ulta smiled faintly.
‘A phoenix… and fairy's contractor.’
When the fairy incident occurred on the Island of Beasts during the 1st semester—
Ulta had truly wanted to make a contract with a fairy.
Not out of ambition or pride as a summoner.
‘I just thought it’d be fun to be friends with one.’
A childish and simple thought—but that was who Ulta was.
‘But someone had contracted it.’
He had realized it while facing the dark sorcerer of Tartaros.
Later, Yura told him that Leo had contracted with the Phoenix on his 1st day of school.
A summoner’s capability is determined by the beings they’ve contracted with.
‘Of course, even the strongest summon is useless if one can’t handle it. But Leo could surely handle both the Phoenix and the Fairy.’
Then he’d have no problem being the student council president.
That’s what Ulta believed.
And he also had a personal desire.
‘It’d be great if the next student council president came from the Summoning Department.’s
Just as Torua and Jamua each firmly believed Leo belonged to the Magic and Knight Departments respectively—
Ulta was equally certain Leo was from the Summoning Department.
‘I don’t know why he hasn’t revealed that he’s the Phoenix and Fairy’s contractor… but maybe this time, he will.’
As the best student of the Summoning Department, Ulta wanted to leave behind the strongest summoner as his legacy to the juniors.
‘Come on, Leo. You won’t be able to face Torua without the Phoenix. Show everyone you’re the Phoenix’s contractor.’

“1st, we need a way to deal with all those unique spells.”
Abad spoke in a serious tone.
“How about I fly up to her and disrupt her view?”
Chelsea raised her hand.
Being the fastest among them, it was possible she could interfere with Torua’s sight.
“No. Those are all unique spells. If you rush in carelessly, you’ll be taken out.”
Chloe shook her head.
“I’m not trying to score a goal. I’m planning to wipe you all out, you know?”
Torua burst into laughter from above.
Watching her, Leo said,
“I’ll hold her off for a bit.”
“Leo?”
Chloe looked startled as Leo stepped forward.
“You guys get ready to score.”
Leo used the Fly spell and soared up toward Torua.
“Hi, Leo. I’m curious about something.”
“What is it?”
“I’m your super-senior and an older woman, right?”
“That’s right.”
“Normally, a cute adolescent boy like you should blush or act shy when he sees a pretty noona like me. You should have some sort of fresh reaction.”
“Isn’t it true that among all the male students in the Magic Department, not a single one reacts that way to you, Torua-sunbae?”
Torua was undeniably beautiful.
21 years old.
For 1st-years, she was at the perfect age to admire.
But none of the Magic Department students reacted to her that way.
Because before being a “super senior,” she was famous for having a very peculiar personality.
Known as the magic-obsessed fool who knew nothing but spells.
“Anyway.”
Torua crossed her arms.
“For a 1st-year to look at me with the eyes of an old man—that’s weird.”
“How am I like an old man?”
“Hmm. It’s the look of someone far older who seems to understand me. Like the retired Professor Irúa I had back in my 1st year.”
“Who’s that?”
“A sixty-year-old mage from the Northern Magic Tower.”
“That’s not an old man’s level, that’s grandpa level.”
To think she saw a sixty-year-old’s eyes in Leo’s gaze.
Leo chuckled.
“Well, I kind of understand a little now.”
“Understand what?”
“What kind of effort it must’ve taken to reach that level of skill.”
Torua’s ability was not merely talent, but the result of unimaginable effort.
‘She’s different from Elena, Chloe, Abad, and Chelsea.’
In terms of raw talent, those four were all overwhelmingly gifted.
But Torua was different.
In Leo’s eyes, although she had many talents, none were enough to reach the pinnacle in any one field.
s‘Just like me.’
An all-class student, but one who had never reached the ultimate level in any discipline, someone who always had to borrow power from others.
‘She built that level purely through passion and effort.’
She studied, researched, and filled her shortcomings.
The “omnipotent” magical ability Torua possessed was forged that way.
Seeing Leo’s expression, Torua’s eyes widened.
Most people believed Torua became the best mage in Lumene through talent.
They didn’t deny her effort, but none truly understood the heart behind it.
Even her friends who spent five years with her didn’t.
But Leo seemed to understand completely.
Though he hadn’t said it, Torua felt a strange sense of kinship.
“Leo.”
“Yes.”
“Let’s get married.”
At her sudden words, Leo couldn’t help but chuckle.
“If you’d been at least a little flustered, it would’ve been cute. You really do act like an older man.”
Pouting slightly, Torua crossed her arms.
“So, you plan to stop me all by yourself?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm. I know you’re a skilled mage, but isn’t that a bit reckless?”
“It is.”
‘With my current power, I can’t do anything against Torua.’
A clear difference in class that skill or technique couldn’t bridge.
Between Leo and Torua, that gap existed.
Leo gathered his mana.
“But there’s a way to hold you off for a short time.”
“Oh? So confident? Fine. If you manage to stop me and your team scores even once, I’ll admit your victory.”
“No going back on that.”
Leo stirred his mana.
Then glanced briefly at Rhys’s side.
‘Student council president, huh.’
When he 1st heard about it, he hadn’t cared much.
But recently, his thoughts had changed.
He had read the records of those who had defeated fragments of Erebos three thousand years ago.
‘Back then, they vaguely thought: if we can’t do it, our descendants will.’
Leo clenched his fist.
‘But that’s not enough.’
Within the Hero Record, fragments of Erebos were sealed.
And Tartaros was aiming for the Hero Record.
Someday, far in the future—
What if other great heroes’ records disappeared as his had?
What if Tartaros succeeded and the Hero Record was destroyed completely?
Then only a dark future would remain.
‘To prevent that, I need to become a great hero once more.’
He had to leave behind new achievements in the Hero Record.
So that those records could be passed down to future generations.
So that someday, another inheritor of his power might appear.
‘For that, becoming student council president as a 1st-year isn’t a bad start.’
There would be strong opposition, of course.
‘I’ll just prove it with strength.’
A way to counter Torua’s barrage of unique magic.
That was to respond with the same kind of magic.
Ordinarily, it was near impossible to cancel out a unique spell with another of the same kind.
But Leo had a way to make the impossible possible—if only for a moment.
‘Unique magic against unique magic.’
Leo closed his eyes.
Vmmm—!
A magic circle appeared across his entire body.
Seeing that, Torua furrowed her brows.
‘What’s this? I’ve never seen a spell formula like that before.’
Just as she looked puzzled—
Leo opened his eyes.
They glowed red crimson.
Within his vision, the countless spell formulas filling the sky appeared.
In an instant, they were all deciphered in his mind.
Leo released his mana.
Woom—!
Leo cast the same unique spells as Torua.
Torua’s eyes widened.
“……What did you just do?”
Leo smiled.
“My unique magic—Bible.”
